These 3 content management systems in the same sequence lead in the rating of paid engines.
We analyzed the pros and cons of popular CMS and wrote about 1C-Bitrix in a comparative context with WordPress previously. In this publication, we will compare the paid content management systems. What commercial engines attract users with, and for what site owners are willing to pay? What is better to choose: 1C-Bitrix, DataLife Engine, or Shop-Script? Let's take a closer look.
A brief overview. What resources is CMS suitable for?
First of all, let's consider what these engines are, for which sites they are intended, and what the percentage of their use in runet is.
1C-Bitrix
This is a Russian engine, which represents the 1C company. Built-in tools and system features enable you to create small enterprise pages, online stores, and even large state or international resources. In general CMS rating, it can be found in the second place, as it is used on 13.33% of sites in the runet. Among paid engines, this percentage is 54.85%.
DataLife Engine
This is the product from the Russian company Softnews Media Group that was originally intended for information sites. Now the engine is most often used for entertainment platforms. Statistics of this system in runet - 1.94%, and 7,97% among paid systems.
Shop-Script
This content management system from Russian developers operates on the basis of Webasyst platform. This CMS is designed to create online stores. About 1.52% of the runet users use this engine; among commercial systems, the percentage of use is 6.40%.

One of the important factors when choosing a paid content management system is the price. So, let's consider various prices and license costs for each of the engines as of September 2020.
1C-Bitrix
To start working with the engine, you need to buy one of 5 editions with an annual license. The basic version provides minimal opportunities for the development of small resources, while the user receives many functions for the development of large-scale projects. Available editions include:
- "Start". It provides the basic functions for creating and maintaining 2 sites. Those include the built-in SEO module, interface localization, page search, and others. But in this version, there is no possibility of developing online stores. The price is 5400 rubles.
- "Standard". This is an extended version of the starter edition, which you can use to develop and maintain an unlimited number of sites. It also includes some additional features, such as creating a forum or blog. The price is 15900 rubles.
- "Small business." This edition includes all the features of the standard version, as well as some advanced functions. It is suitable for the development of an online store with slightly reduced capabilities. For example, you can install a module for warehouse accounting, but for one warehouse only. The price is 35900 rubles.
- "Business". This one is suitable for midsize and large businesses. It includes most features from the full list, except for LDAP integration and site controller. The price is 72900 rubles.
- "Enterprise". This is the maximum version that includes all available tools and features. Premium technical support is available to users. This option is not available in any of the editions we've discussed previously. The price starts from 399000 rubles.
When buying any of the editions, the user receives a free 30-days trial.
DataLife Engine
Three licenses are offered by the developers. Let's have a look at the features of different versions and their prices:
- Basic edition. The user can access the open-source code and free updates during the year. There are no restrictions on the functionality and work duration of the website. The number of publications and comments is not limited.
- Extended edition. This one includes all features of the basic version. Additional benefits of the license are technical support and permission to remove copyrights. The price is 4290 rubles.
- Unlimited edition. In addition to the features and functions of the extended license, this version provides free updates without time limits.
After purchase, the license is valid for 1 year. Then it should be extended.
There is also a free demo version of the engine. There are no limits on the functionality and work duration of the resource, but there are limits on publications (up to 100) and comments (up to 200). The source code is private, and it is also not possible to update the version and contact technical support.
Shop-Script
The license for CMS is lifelong, and you will have to pay for this CMS 19,999 rubles. The price includes a year of free updates; subscription renewal costs 3,799 rubles.
An alternative option is a license that allows using the engine in the Webasyst cloud. Here are available rates and cost of use:
- "Start" - 399 rubles/month;

Technical Support
The ability to contact the technical support service allows you to solve problems that arise during work quickly. Some commercial CMS developers offer technical support at additional costs, while others include this option in the license price.
1C-Bitrix
Technical support is provided in all editions and is included in their cost. When purchasing the Enterprise package, users additionally get the opportunity to contact technical support around the clock. Besides, they receive answers as a priority and can order an audit of their project from 1С.
DataLife Engine
Technical support is not available to all users. There are different conditions in different versions. Those are the following:
- extended and unlimited versions - free support, as this is included in the license cost;
- basic version - customer support is an additional service, the cost for one year is 1,000 rubles.
Those choosing the free version should know that technical support is not provided in this version. There is a forum on the official website where you can ask any questions on the technical part, but the answer will not be instant. In addition, those users utilizing a free license can receive advice from the technical support service only if they add a link to their website on the Internet to the message. If the demo is only installed locally and the owner makes a question, this is considered a violation of the rules.
Shop-Script
Technical support is free, so you can get an answer on the official support forum. There is also a wide knowledge base with extensive documentation.
Safety
Security is an important aspect when choosing a content management system. The higher the security, the better sites are protected from hacking and stealing sensitive information. Now, let's compare levels of protection of 1C-Bitrix, DataLife Engine, and Shop-Script.
1C-Bitrix
You can not worry about reliability, as this CMS has built-in security tools. All its editions, starting with the Standard version, have proactive protection. This is a module for automatic monitoring that informs users of possible problems.
Also, 1C-Bitrix allows the installation of only official plugins that users buy in the Marketplace. Because of this, resources are protected from outside interference. Most often, sites, where third-party extensions from unverified developers are used, are subject to hacking.
DataLife Engine
The issue of security when using DLE is one of the most common complaints of users. Previously, the engine was often listed as unsafe due to the fact that sites hosted on it were often hacked. In fact, there are only 2 problems. Those are updates and using unlicensed versions.
After the purchase, the license is valid for a year. Once it expires, you need to renew it or refuse to use it. Some users who do not want to pay for CMS once again violate the rules and use an unlicensed version. It's both illegal and unreliable. It will be impossible to update such a version of an engine, and as a result, lots of vulnerabilities appear, which leads to site insecurity. Shop-Script
Shop-Script suppliers provide a high level of security for resources created on the Shop-Script engine. All vulnerability issues are addressed through updates. Shop-Script is only suitable for e-commerce.
